GoFundMe Campaign to Send Mariachi Band to Immigrant-Rant Lawyer Hits Goal

A GoFundMe campaign raised more than $1,000 to hire a Mariachi band to perform for a New York lawyer whose rant against Hispanic workers speaking Spanish to one another went viral.

Creator Mark Goldberg of New York, wrote on the page any extra money would be used to buy traditional Mexican party accessories like piñatas.

"We are requesting the band to sing the famous, endearing, and warm Spanish children song, 'La Cucaracha,' the cockroach. We are countering hate and racism with the sound of music. Any leftover money will be used to send a delicious Taco Truck lunch to the staff and a copy of all federal and state statutes mentioning undocumented immigrants do not qualify for welfare."

The campaign reached its initial $500 goal in less than 24 hours when it was cancelled by Goldberg. He later updated the page with an image of a receipt totaling $224 to a mariachi band.

The campaign was created following a viral video of attorney Aaron Schlossberg harassing employees at a Manhanttan restaraunt for speaking Spanish. In the video, Schlossberg can be heard accusing the workers of being illegal, and threatening to call Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
