13-Year-Old Boy Found Naked, Chained in Alabama Home, Police Say

A 13-year-old Alabama boy was found naked and chained up at a home in Autauga County, and three of his relatives have been arrested on child abuse charges, police said Friday

Autauga County Sheriff Joe Sedinger told reporters that the chained-up boy was discovered by deputies Thursday afternoon after receiving an anonymous tip of possible child abuse there.

The boy was discovered naked with chains padlocked around his ankles attached to a door, preventing the boy fro moving around. Deputies say they believe the boy had been chained up for several hours already.

"I mean, we’ve never had anything like this in Autauga County,” he told the Montgomery Advertiser. “We’ve had child abuse cases, physical abuse cases that were bad. But nothing like this where a child was left chained up for an extended period of time."

Court records showed that the boy's mother, stepfather and grandmother have all been arrested on charges of torture/willful abuse of a child under 18.

Investigators say they believe the child had been chained up as punishment. Two other children at the residence were turned over to the Department of Human Resources.

All three adults were placed in the Autauga Metro Jail under a $15,000 cash bond each and police say additional charges may be brought against them.
