California Teen Threatens 'Massacre' At Former High School On Instagram

An 18-year-old from California was arrested after threatening to "take a gun and start a massacre" at his former high school. A concerned mother contacted police after her son received the threat from Devin Harper on Instagram. Harper allegedly said he planned to shoot up Montebello High School on Monday (March 2).

Harper was expelled from the school two years ago for making similar threats.

Officers made contact with Harper over the weekend, and he denied making the threat. He told them he did not know who made the post and claimed he was unable to access his Instagram account. He was taken into custody and is facing charges of making criminal threats.

School officials did not cancel classes as a result of the threat.

"These matters are taken very seriously," the school's principal, Horacio Perez, said in a statement. "Our administration is in contact with Montebello Police, school police, and [the] district office."
