Randy Parton, Brother To Dolly And Performer, Dead At 67

Randy Parton, the brother of Dolly Parton and a fellow performer in his own right, has died at the age of 67.

Dolly Parton confirmed her brother died after a battle with cancer in a social media post shared just prior to 10:00 a.m. on Thursday (January 21) morning.

"My brother Randy has lost his battle with cancer. The family and I are grieving his loss but we know he is in a better place than we are at this time. We are a family of faith and we believe that he is safe with God and that he is joined by members of the family that have gone on before and have welcomed him with joy and open arms."

Randy Parton, the eighth of 12 children in the Parton family, contributed as a guitarist and bassist in his sister's band for "many years" and has been featured in his own show at Dollywood since its opening in 1986, according Dolly's post. The two siblings shared a duet on the track 'You Are My Christmas' on Dolly's latest Christmas album, which also included Randy's daughter, Heidi.

"It was his last musical recording and he shined on it just like he’s shining in heaven now," Dolly wrote.

"He is survived by his wife Deb, his daughter Heidi, son Sabyn, grandsons Huston and Trent.

"We will always love him and he will always be in our hearts."
