The White House Is Blue Today

The White House will be blue today. Law enforcement officers from across the country who died in the line of duty in 2018 will be honored Wednesday at the National Peace Officers' Memorial Service at the U.S. Capitol. The ceremony honors law enforcement officers who were killed in the line of duty. It also recognizes those who have become disabled, those (who are the victims of) terrorist actions, those who suffered silently, deceased officers, international officers, service animals and those who are still serving.

The Roll Call of Heroes read during the ceremony will honor the 228 peace officers who lost their lives in the line of duty during calendar year 2018.

This week is also National Police Week. It was established by a joint resolution of Congress in 1962 to pay special recognition to those law enforcement who have lost their lives in the line of duty.

Thank you to all who serve!
